We are delighted to invite you to the inaugural meeting of the EMBODI-ED (Environment, Mind, Body in Education) Society, which will be held in Hong Kong from 10 to 12 December 2027.
​
Building on the collaborations and shared interests developed through the EMBODI-ED network, we are taking the next step towards establishing an international academic society that brings together researchers and practitioners working at the intersection of environment, mind, body, and education.
​
We hope that this inaugural meeting will be more than the formal establishment of the Society. It will provide a forum for us to collectively develop and define the EMBODI-ED Society, including its vision, scope, academic identity, governance, and future priorities. We also hope to discuss how the Society can support international collaboration, research initiatives, conferences, and other academic and professional activities in the years ahead.

In the lead-up to the 2027 inaugural meeting, we plan to organise a regular series of online seminars, bringing together colleagues from different disciplines and countries to share emerging research, exchange ideas, and further develop the EMBODI-ED academic community. Further information about these seminars will be shared through the EMBODI-ED network and website.
​
A key scientific initiative currently underway within the EMBODI-ED network is an international consensus project on embodiment-related terminology. The project aims to address conceptual and terminological inconsistencies across the field and work towards a shared framework that can support future research, theory development, and interdisciplinary communication. We plan to present and discuss the findings of this project at the 2027 inaugural meeting, providing an opportunity for members to contribute to their interpretation and refinement.

Another important topic for discussion will be the development of a potential academic journal, Embodiment, and our ongoing discussions with SAGE Publishing regarding the journal and its possible relationship with the Society. We would greatly value your perspectives on its intellectual scope, positioning, and future development. Given your contributions to this emerging field and related areas, we would be delighted if you could join us in Hong Kong and contribute to shaping the Society from its inception.
